Essential 7 Conviction

Essential 7
Conviction

It's the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen. Muhammad Ali (Formerly Casius Clay and world boxing champion)

In great speakers you can sense their emotion, enthusiasm, and conviction. You could even see their passions running inside them. Do you have an opinion about your product or service? How strongly do you feel about your topic? So, you find it hard to have conviction about the insurance, bank product, paper, real estate or just about any product, idea or point of view you sell or the customer service training you offer? What good does it bring to people? For example, paper, depending on the type, brings knowledge to people, contributes to good health, or adds to our quality of life. Similarly, think deeply about what you do and its relationship to the human endeavor.

Being convicted is really the character you display about the passions running inside you about the topic or subject you are speaking about with conviction. Conviction speaks your intent and purpose. Conviction speaks your objectives and goals. Conviction is what your customer, client and or audience is looking for when they want to hear you speak. If you are not convicted about what you speak then there are fair chances your point is never going to get across positively to yield any result. What is this going to in turn do to your self esteem?  It is going to subdue you and shatter you (for a while, maybe). You do not want to walk out of an opportunity because you were not convicted enough to let him know how deeply you feel about your topic or subject.

You must believe in what you are speaking, you must have the courage to agree with yourself because the first sign of poor conviction is self doubt. Go there and shout it out if you must but be firm and stand your ground on what you feel convicted about. After all if in any case you were incorrect; there are chances it will be corrected and you could make a note of it and take another chance to represent your team or yourself. But lacking conviction is altogether poor quality of an individual and you might just be replaced even before you blink your eye lids. Opinions and views are never always right or wrong but it is your opinion and it matters; and if it matters to you then you must be convicted so deeply that it strongly sends the message across how passionately you feel about your topic or subject.

Conviction speaks in tandem with the skill you already have as a charismatic speaker and it shows in your every expression. But if you lack it, you could end up like some of the TV broadcasters you’ve seen on TV of yester years who sounded like they were punished for speaking. Now, you sure might look right but you don’t sound right. And this is where you might come across as someone being given the task to do it because it has to be to be done. Conviction on the other reflects in your entire speech. It’s like a well baked cake, from all around.

Very often, your prospects do feel strongly about their business. If you don’t come across as equally enthusiastic, they will engage in buying from someone else who shares their convictions. This is more often the case and you must have heard many a times when people say that they didn’t buy it because you didn’t sound right about what you were selling. This is the one of the worse things you want to hear from your prospect, client, customer and or your audience.

Remember: Conviction is rooted deeply in the passion you nurse about what you want to speak and it should sound like its coming from deep down inside your gut and not just from your mouth.
